| A Message from the Secretary |
|
Shirley Charlesworth You may not all be aware that our Treasurer, Shirley Charlesworth, was unexpectedly admitted to hospital last week for a serious operation. Hopefully, this was completely successful, and she is back at home for a period of recuperation. Knowing Shirley, we will be seeing her at Little Bounds in no time, but it is inevitable that she will be unable to carry out the great majority of roles that we have probably come to take for granted. The club is going to need a lot of additional support from Players, Supporters and Families to get us through what is bound to be a difficult period. What can you do? Money We are still waiting for a large number of players, both Junior and Senior to pay their annual subscriptions. Shirley is not going to be able to chase you………….nor should she have to under any circumstances. Our annual subscriptions are far lower than many equivalent clubs in the area, and it is just plain wrong that players should delay paying. This money is vital to the club and must be paid. It is also extremely unfair to those members who have paid promptly. If there are genuine reasons why prompt payment cannot be made, please speak to Martin Charlesworth or myself and we will make appropriate arrangements. Teas Shirley regularly provides Teas for the 1st and 2nd XI on Saturdays, and also the Sunday side. She is not going to be able to do this for the foreseeable future. We need volunteers to take the job on from time to time. Our new 4th XI has arranged a rota of parents/supporters for their teas, surely our senior sides should be able to do the same. It’s not a difficult job, and if we could get a rota going then no one person will have to do the job more than a couple of times. That’s not too difficult is it? Bar We have a fantastic bar which we all enjoy, but very few members ever offer to support martin, Paul or myself in working behind the bar on matchdays or Friday Junior training evenings. If every member offered us one evening a season and specified a date on a rota, then our lives would be much easier. We know that we have a great deal of members who really are committed to the club. If you all added just a little more commitment off the field to your efforts on the field, then we will emerge from this difficult period a far stronger club.
In closing, I am sure that you will want to join me in sending Shirley our very best wishes for a complete and speedy recovery. John Leaver Hon. Secretary

Join one of the most successful Cricket clubs in the county?
Ellerslie CC. is one of the longest established cricket clubs in the county and operates from an impressive ground in West Bridgford. We are an ECB Focus Club and run 5 adult teams every weekend and have a thriving youth section, which sees regular attendance of over 100 young people and parents visiting our ground throughout the summer. The provision of such facilities and playing standards is increasingly expensive, hence the need to continually look to increase our income. Hence this request. Attached below is our 2012 Sponsorship schedule, together with a copy of our covering letter. Cricket is a great sport for socialising young people. Ellerslie offers a safe and friendly environment where players and spectators alike can enjoy this great game in attractive and convivial surroundings. If there is an interest for you and you would like to have a chat about joining with us, please do not hesitate to give me a call, and I will arrange for you to visit the ground for a discussion. Thank you for your very kind attention. John Leaver Hon. Secretary 2012 Sponsorship Rate Card 2012 Sponsorship Covering Letter

Registration Evening Friday 30th March 6.30-8.30
Why not help your club by registering your playing membership and paying your subscriptions at the special evening the night before Cricketforce? At this time of the year the club has huge outgoings, such as Insurance Premiums (£2000), League Memberships (£350) Cricket Balls (£700) plus materials for the ground. This really drains our bank account and so your subscriptions are really important. Ellerslie has always tried to keep our subs as low as possible, so please play your part by getting your money to us as early as possible. If it’s tough to pay in one drop then come to the meeting on the 30th March and discuss staging your payments with Shirley. Download Senior Registration Form Download Junior Registration Form Assistance in the bar In the early weeks of next season, it is more than likely that Martin will not be around. This means that we need some additional assistance to run the bar on club evenings. It’s not difficult work once initial instruction has been given. If every senior player would undertake to give us a minimum of four hours service on a rota basis, then the problem will be solved. We will draw up a rota so that hours can be chosen to suit individual diaries. Come on guys! We really need your help.
Cheers John Leaver Hon.Secretary
